I resonate with this completely. It got me a bit teary reading about Nancy's story. I had a UTI a few times in my life. Two out of those times developed into a full blown kidney infection (the left kidney both times). It's shocking to learn that it can be deadly or that a body may not react to or take advantage of the antibiotic the way we expect it to. I must admit to taking it for granted and thinking it would always work.

I'm also surprised to hear about UTIs that men get. Sorry to hear about your painful experience. It's awful and uncomfortable.

Thanks for sharing this article. It's super insightful and informative. I wasn't 100% sure how I got my kidney infected twice like that until now. I always thought it was caused by a lot of friction that create micro tears inside a vagina (possibly on penis, too) and that the bacteria that are normally tolerated could no longer be.

Reading your story makes me think that it must have (also?) been the lube contaminated by poop during different positions.
